The deceased has been identified as Frank Jose Alvarenga, 18, of Noblesville, IN.


PRESS RELEASE

On October 10, 2014 at approximately 11:43 p.m., police officers from the Noblesville Police Department responded to the intersection of 191st Street and Golden Meadow Way (Noblesville) in reference to a report of motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, preliminary information suggests that a 2007 Buick Rendezvous was traveling westbound on 191st Street, near the intersection of Golden Meadow Way, when the crash occurred. Witnesses state that just prior to the crash, a pedestrian was near the westbound lane of travel of 191st Street and was struck by the Buick. After being struck by the Buick, evidence suggests that the pedestrian was struck a second time by a 2000 Mercury Sable that was traveling eastbound on 191st Street. Both drivers stopped immediately and attempted to render aid.

The pedestrian suffered injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by ground ambulance to Riverview Health (Noblesville). The pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld at this time until family notifications have been confirmed. An updated release will be provided once notifications have been made.

The driver of the Buick did not sustain any injuries; however was transported to Riverview Health for a check out. The driver has been identified as Amy C. Leap, 26, of Noblesville, IN. There were five (5) additional passengers in the Buick but none of them sustained any injuries. The driver of the Mercury did not sustain any injuries. She has been identified as Gabrielle L. Shepherd, 22, of Noblesville, IN.

Members of the Accident Reconstruction Unit were called to the scene to collect evidence and investigate the crash. 191st Street was closed between S.R. 37 and Golden Meadow Way for approximately three (3) hours while investigators gathered information and spoke with witnesses. The case remains an ongoing investigation.
