2014 Steuben County Sheriff Marine Patrol Activity
The following information was compiled from Deputy activity while conducting Marine Patrol efforts in Steuben County during the busy boater activity season in 2014. The below statistics are from the Sheriff’s Office only and do not include activities of the DNR.

There were 178 scheduled patrols this year. Each scheduled patrol is approximately 4 hours but sometimes are more or less based on boat traffic or weather conditions. 18 different lakes throughout Steuben County were primarily patrolled this season.
Third year in a row with no major boating accidents or drowning’s during the busy summer boating activity season. All Marine Patrol efforts are the result of a $25,000.00 grant through the Department of Natural Resources from L.A.R.E. funding. Currently the Steuben County Marine Patrol is made up of 11 volunteer Marine Reserve Deputies, 6 Full Time Patrol Deputies and is managed by Sgt. Adam Miller. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office Marine patrol effort has a strong emphasis on high visibility and boater safety education.
