24-hour road closures expected during railroad work
TAVARES – Lake County is alerting residents about Florida Central Railroad’s scheduled repairs to intersections in the areas of Eustis, Tavares, Mount Dora and Umatilla, which will cause road closures for 24 hours at a time.
More than a dozen county, city and private roads will be affected between Oct. 15 and Oct. 22. Below are the county-maintained roads that will experience closures:
Oct. 15 County Road 44 (night closure near County Road 452 and the Fairgrounds) Eustis
Oct. 17 Lakeshore Drive (downtown Eustis) Eustis
Oct. 20 N. Mount Homer Road (north of U.S. Highway 441) Eustis
Oct. 22 Fairview Avenue (near Old U.S. Highway 441) Tavares
A complete list of all the affected roads and maps of the areas are located on the county’s Public Works FTP and are listed by location and construction phases:

RJ Corman, the contractor for the railroad construction, will post road closure and detour signs redirecting traffic around these intersections. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling in these areas and drivers are asked to make the necessary adjustments to avoid these intersections during the railroad work if possible.
