Recently LAPD Pacific Area Community Police Station has been receiving numerous reports of thefts that have occurred by trickery. The scammers are pretending to be utility company debt collectors, IRS debt collectors, and Law Enforcement fine collectors. The common theme among all these thefts is that the suspects asked the victims to purchase Greendot Money Paks in order to make payment. 

Avoid falling victim to these scams

• Utility companies & government agencies will not contact you demanding immediate payment by Greendot Money Pak
• Never wire money, provide debit or credit card numbers, or Greendot Money Pak numbers to someone you do not know
• Never give out personal or financial information to anyone who e-mails or calls you unsolicited. 
• Verify the caller by contacting the agency the caller works for, use the official phone number provided on the agency's website.
