Police Open House was a Huge Success
On October 15, 2014, The Los Banos Police Department held an open house event from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the 900 block of 5th Street. The Department opened its doors and gave attendees a firsthand look at police operations. Residents were given tours of the Police Department, Dispatch Center, and Jail Facility. Following the tour, residents met our K-9 teams and enjoyed a live demonstration.
“The idea of an open house came up as a recruitment tool for police volunteers. This event was successful far beyond what we had originally envisioned. We handed out more than 50 volunteer applications and gave several hundred people tours of our police department. I couldn’t be any happier with the turnout.”
-Gary Brizzee, Chief of Police
Participants enjoyed hot dogs, popcorn, jump houses, and a safety maze staffed by Pacheco High School’s Cheerleaders. Detectives demonstrated finger print lifting techniques and allowed residents to participate. Kids could be heard talking on the police radio as they took on the role of an emergency dispatcher or an officer on patrol.
“Officially, the event ended at 7:00 p.m., but we completed our last tour closer to 8:00 p.m. People didn’t mind waiting in line to see their police department and we enjoyed showing it to them.”
-Jason Hedden, Commander
“We’d like to thank Xenia’s for their generous donation of two jump houses as well as the Pacheco High Cheerleaders and friends and family who made this event a success.”
-Aundre Garcia, Police Services Manager

Los Banos Police Hold Open House to Recruit Volunteers
Save the date! The Los Banos Police Department will host an open house event on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Police Department located at 945 5th Street, Los Banos.
“This event will hopefully serve two purposes. First, this open house is designed to be a volunteer recruitment event. I want to show residents that our volunteers are an important part of our operation and that becoming a volunteer can be very exciting and rewarding; what better way to accomplish that then to let everyone in, to see what we do every day. I also want to showcase Police Department employees in their work environment. I work with great people who accomplish amazing things everyday, and the community deserves to see that.”
- Gary Brizzee, Chief of Police
The open house will feature tours of the Police Department, Jail Facility and the 9-1-1 Communication Center. Police personnel from various divisions will be available to provide law enforcement equipment demonstrations, answer questions and interact with the community.
