The Camillus Police Department wishes to invite our community to a presentation entitled Hang Up and Drive
PRESS RELEASE
FOR RELEASE ON OCTOBER 17, 2014
Hang Up and Drive
The Camillus Police Department wishes to invite our community to a very significant presentation entitled Hang Up and Drive. Hang Up and Drive is an event presented Jacy Good and Steve Johnson, both Jacy and Steve are nationwide public speakers on the dangers of texting and driving. Ms. Good is a nationally known and awarded advocate for cell-free roads.
In May of 2008 both of Ms. Good’s parents were killed and Jacy herself was severely injured on the way home from her graduation ceremony at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. This devastating collision was caused by a teen driver distracted by a cell phone conversation. Jacy now travels the country sharing her story at high schools, colleges, conferences, and corporate events in an effort to prevent such a horrific event from touching others' lives. Ms. Good has been a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show, was a panelist at Maria Shriver's 2010 Women's Conference, and has appeared as a "Hero Among Us" in People Magazine. She has worked with the United Nations and several state legislatures to help raise awareness and put stricter laws on the books. Since 2011 Jacy has spoken at over 375 events nationwide.
The presentation will be held in the West Genesee High School Auditorium, 5201 West Genesee Street, on the evening of Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 7:00 pm. There is no cost to attend this event. This presentation should last an hour.
The Camillus Police Department encourages our community to find the time to attend this very powerful and emotionally charged presentation. Parents of teen drivers and teen drivers themselves are especially encouraged to attend.
