The Camillus Police Department wishes to invite our community to a very important presentation called Hang Up and Drive. Hang Up and Drive is a presentation by Jacy Good and Steve Johnson, who are nationwide public speakers on the dangers of texting and driving.
Jacy Good is a nationally known and awarded advocate for cell-free roads. In May of 2008 both of her parents were killed and Good was herself severely injured on the way home from her graduation ceremony from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. The devastating wreck was caused by a teen driver distracted by a cell phone conversation.
Good now travels the country sharing her story at high schools, colleges, conferences, and corporate events in an effort to prevent such horrors from touching others' lives. Ms. Good has been a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show, was a panelist at Maria Shriver's 2010 Women's Conference, and has appeared as a "Hero Among Us" in People Magazine. She has worked with the United Nations and several state legislatures to help raise awareness and put stricter laws on the books. Since 2011 Jacy has spoken at over 375 events nationwide.
The presentation will be held in the West Genesee High School Auditorium, 5201 Wet Genesee Street, on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 7:00 pm. There is no cost to attend this presentation. The presentation will last for about an hour.
The Camillus Police Department encourages our community to find the time to come down and listen to this very powerful and emotionally charged presentation.
Parents of teen drivers and teen drivers themselves are especially encouraged to attend the presentation.
