Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies conducting death investigation of 20-year old female in southwest Springfield
Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home in the 3100 block of W Countryside in southwest Greene County shortly after 4:00 p.m. this afternoon to check on a 20-year old female. Family members were concerned after they received text messages from her indicating she was suicidal.
Deputies were able to contact the female at her home and observed a visible gunshot wound; she was still alive and was able to speak to the Deputies who arrived to the home. The Deputies immediately attempted life-saving efforts and she was quickly transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
“This is a heartbreaking tragedy for this 20-year old, her family and for our Deputies,” states Sheriff Jim Arnott. “We don’t know what types of battles this young woman was fighting but there are several ways to get help for people who are feeling hopeless or depressed. We are fortunate to have great people and resources here in Greene County like NAMI, the Victim Center and the United Way to name a few.”
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate this incident.
