Full Notification

A resident has advised APD that she received a call from someone claiming to be with Windows Security who stated her security software was outdated and it needed to be renewed. She then gave remote access of her computer to the caller and her computer was wiped clean and all information was compromised. The hackers are now demanding money to restore her information.

Reminder: Do not give out any personal information to anyone over the phone. If you think something is a scam hang up and call the police to report it.
