SHERIFF'S OFFICE MAKES ARREST OF LANDFILL EMPLOYEE 
Polk County Sheriff's Office has arrested Joyce Williams for Sale/Deliver Schedule II. Sheriff's Office says that while at the landfill she sold her prescription medication of Lortabs otherwise known as Hydrocodone.
This was discovered after the Sheriff's Office began investigating financial irregularities from the landfill. Interim County Manager Marche Pittman contacted the Sheriff's Office and asked them to start an investigation after it was discovered that there were discrepancies in deposits from the county landfill.
During interviews conducted of employees who work at the landfill it was revealed that Williams had sold her prescription pills while at work. The Sheriff’s Office followed up on information they had received and took charges out against Williams.
Williams, 41 of 1265 Moore Road Tryon, NC was charged and arrested for one count of Sale/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance. Williams was given a $5,000.00 unsecure bond and has her first court appearance today in District Court.
The financial irregularities at the landfill are still an ongoing investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
