October Domestic Violence Warrant Sweep Results
As a part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office dedicated a special Warrants team comprised of Deputies from the Criminal Warrants Unit, Gangs and Intelligence Unit, the Sex Offender Registry Unit and the Reserves Unit to target and serve domestic violence related warrants. The MCSO Civil Warrants Unit also assisted in this effort.
Throughout the month of October, the special MCSO teams arrested 119 individuals were arrested, many with multiple warrants for other charges including rape, robbery and stalking.
Marion County Sheriff John Layton stated: “It is important for people to understand that they cannot commit crimes and get away with it, especially crimes involving domestic violence. We serve domestic violence warrants all year long, but it was great to be able to partner with so many other law enforcement agencies. Together, we were able to bring an extra level of attention to these crimes during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. There were outstanding group efforts going on throughout Marion County. I’m proud of the way so many of our units worked together on this special team, and I am very grateful to the many agencies that were involved in this special effort.”
