DEATH INVESTIGATION
DEATH INVESTIGATION
On the morning of November 1, 2014, SRJC District Police Officers were on patrol in the area of the front lawn that borders Mendocino Avenue and Elliott Avenue. At approximately 10:13 am, Officers observed what they believed to be a person laying in the grass in the middle of the front lawn and responded on foot to check on the person’s welfare.
Upon contact, officers observed a male subject who was unresponsive to their presence. Officers noted the subject’s body was cold to the touch and he did not appear to have a pulse. Emergency medical personnel were called and arrived on scene within five minutes. Upon examining the male subject, paramedics found no signs of life and determined him to be deceased at approximately 10:20 am.
An Initial assessment showed signs of trauma consistent with an assault, prompting officers to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department as part of an inter-agency agreement to assist our agency during complex criminal investigations. After further investigation, evidence was found that indicates suicide may have been the cause of death. Investigators are continuing their investigation to confirm the cause of death, which will include an autopsy. The deceased person has been tentatively identified and determined to not be a student at SRJC.
