Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports an Oran area man in custody for charges related to tampering.
BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports an Oran area man in custody for charges related to tampering.
Glen David Adams (55) of 1956 County Highway 250, Oran, Missouri has been charged with the Class C Felony of Tampering, and the Class B Misdemeanor of Trespass in the First Degree.
Sheriff Walter states that on Saturday, November 01, 2014 at approximately 12:20 p.m., Deputy Danny Finley and Corporal Justin Wooten responded to 1824 County Highway 250 in reference to stealing.
Deputy Finley met with the complainant who stated that Adams had stolen his John Deere 9400 combine from a storage facility on the property, and started down the driveway, where the complainant confronted him. After the confrontation, Adams returned the combine to the storage area. Deputy Finley observed Adams walking south across a field toward his own residence, located nearby.
Deputy Finley shouted to Adams, identified himself, and told Adams to come to him. Adams clearly saw and heard the deputy, as he stopped and looked directly at Deputy Finley. At that time the deputy repeated his request. Adams ignored the request and continued walking away.
Adams was subsequently arrested by the deputies. When asked why he stole the combine, Adams stated that the complainant owed him money. Adams was transported to the Scott County Jail.
Sheriff Walter states that if the complainant owes Adams money as alleged, this was the improper way to settle the matter. A civil law suit filed in the court would be the proper recourse.
Sheriff Walter lauds the quick response and arrest by the deputies. The sheriff asks that anyone who has information regarding this, or any other crime, to contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office at 545-3525, or leave a message on the crime tip line at 1-866-210-4322.
Bond for Adams has been set by the court at $500.00 cash only.
