Road restrictions and closures for upcoming events in local mountains: November 8 and November 15
ROAD RESTRICTIONS AND CLOSURES FOR UPCOMING EVENTS IN LOCAL MOUNTAINS
Always drive with care and watch for cyclists. The Tour de Foothills bicycle ride starts 7:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014, and includes Glendora Mountain Road, San Dimas, Covina, Claremont, La Verne, Azusa, and several adjacent communities. Glendora Mountain Road will be restricted on April 8, 2014, while Highway 39 north of Azusa will be closed during morning hours on April 15, 2014.
Tour de Foothills Bicycle Ride on November 8, 2014
Over 1,000 bicyclists will take to local roadways on November 8, 2014, for the annual Tour de Foothills event. Riders of all ages and abilities will ride 4 optional courses, ranging from 35 miles to 100 miles in length. The courses will take riders from the San Gabriel River trail to the west, and as far east as Interstate 15, points south near Interstate 10, and the heights of Glendora Mountain Road.
All local roads will be open to the public, except for Glendora Mountain Road, which is subject to closure on November 8, managed by the California Highway Patrol.

REVEL Canyon City Marathon on November 15, 2014
The first of its kind, over 1,600 runners will participate in a marathon and half marathon from the high elevation of Crystal Lake to the streets of Azusa. Participants will be transported by bus to Crystal Lake Cafe for the marathon, and to the West Fork of the San Gabriel River for the half marathon, both with 7:00 a.m. start times. Highway 39 above the city of Azusa (north of the Mountain Cove community) will be closed to all but emergency vehicles from 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. U.S. Forest Service employees and volunteers will be escorted to their respective work sites by the California Highway patrol. Vehicle parking and access to the area will be limited to permit-bearing vehicles only. All runners are expected to be clear of San Gabriel Canyon by 12:30 p.m. Glendora Mountain Road is expected to be open on this day, providing access to the East Fork, Burro Canyon, Camp Williams, and the other areas east of San Gabriel Canyon. The courses are USATF certified, and the marathon course serves as a qualifier for the 2016 Boston Marathon. San Dimas Sheriff’s Station is one of six stations within the East Patrol Division of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The Station’s jurisdiction encompasses approximately 276 square miles. In addition to serving the City of San Dimas, the station serves unincorporated communities of Azusa, Covina, Glendora, La Verne, Claremont, Pomona, the Los Angeles County portion of Mt. Baldy, a large portion of the Angeles National Forest (State Route 39), and portions of Angeles Crest Highway (Highway 2). The population for these areas is approximately one hundred and five thousand (105,000), nearly sixty sixty-nine thousand (69,000) in the unincorporated areas and more than thirty-six thousand (36,000) in the City of San Dimas.
