John McCORRISTON, honored for his actions when working as a dispatcher for the Franklin County 911 Center.
Officer John McCORRISTON currently a part-time police officer with the Mercersburg Police Department was honored along with other hometown heroes by the American Red Cross of Cumberland and Franklin Counties on November 5, 2014.
The honor stems from a call he received on September 26, 2013 when he was working as a 911 dispatcher with Franklin County Emergency Services. Officer McCORRISTON received a call from a man whose father was in cardiac arrest in Waynesboro. Officer McCORRISTON assisted the son, (the caller), over the phone in performing CPR until EMS arrived. Because of those actions, the father survived.
Officer McCORRISTON is a retired Lieutenant of the Philadelphia Police Department. Prior to being employed as a part-time police officer with the Mercersburg Police Department, he worked at the Franklin County 911 Center in Chambersburg, PA as a dispatcher.
