Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Chaffee man in custody for a domestic violence incident.
BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Chaffee man in custody for a domestic violence incident that occurred in the county.
Jesse S. Brown (38) of 310 Black Street, Chaffee, Missouri has been charged with the Class C Felony of Domestic Assault in the Second Degree.
Sheriff Walter states that on Monday, November 10, 2014, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Deputy John Caudle responded to 2073 State Highway A in Scott County for a report of a domestic assault.
Deputy Caudle made contact with a female victim, identified as Brown’s girlfriend, in the front yard of the residence. According to the victim, she and Brown were traveling in a vehicle on Route A when an argument began over Brown texting other females. She stated that Brown drove through a ditch and stopped the vehicle in a field. She said that she opened the vehicle door, told Brown she was calling the police, and attempted to walk away.
The victim reported that Brown grabbed her by the shoulders, shook her, and cursed her. She got free and again attempted to walk away. She stated at this point Brown threw her on the ground. The victim got away again and ran to the residence where the deputy later met her. She ran to the door of the home and the resident allowed her to call 911.
Deputy Caudle observed the victim had a swollen right elbow, and there was mud on her clothing. She stated the injury occurred when Brown assaulted her. The North Scott County Ambulance was called and transported the victim to the St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Deputy Caudle located Brown sitting in the vehicle. Brown stated he did not assault the female and stated she was lying. Deputy Caudle arrested Brown and transported him to the Scott County Jail.
Sheriff Walter thanks the Chaffee Police Department for responding and assisting Deputy Caudle with the call. He applauds the quick arrest by Deputy Caudle in the matter. The sheriff states that this is one more case of a domestic situation that started with a simple argument that got out of control and resulted in an arrest for assault. Sheriff Walter states that if Brown had allowed the victim to walk away he may not have been arrested. He asks that those involved in these types of relationships seek counseling before law enforcement has to become involved.
Sheriff Walter asks that anyone who has information regarding this case, crimes of this type, or any other crimes to contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office at 545-3525, or leave a message on the crime tip line at 1-866-210-4322.
Brown remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond has been set by the court at $2,500.00 cash or surety.
