Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Louisiana man in custody at the Scott County Jail.
BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Louisiana man in custody at the Scott County Jail.
Tyler Levron (44) of 1209 North 26th Street, Denison, Louisiana has been charged with the Class C Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance, the Class C Felony of Receiving Stolen Property, and the Unclassified Misdemeanor of Driving While Suspended.
Sheriff Walter states that on Monday, November 10, 2014, at approximately 7:37 a.m., Corporal Justin Wooten and Deputy Danny Finley responded to Boomland, 6399 State Highway 77, Benton in reference to a naked male.
The sheriff states that the deputies located the gentleman partially clothed behind the steering wheel of a red pickup with Iowa license plates on the parking lot. Corporal Wooten made contact and identified him as Levron. Through the investigation that followed, the deputy determined that Levron had a suspended license. A subsequent consent search by Corporal Wooten revealed two Oxycodone Hydrochloride pills in a pocket of the pants Levron was wearing. The consent search of the vehicle revealed what appeared to be new electronic devices to include two Garmin automotive GPS units, a 28 inch Vizio television, a beard trimmer, new clothing, and a stack of new Wal-Mart plastic bags. Levron stated he had purchased the items in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Levron was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail. Corporal Wooten contacted Wal-Mart about the electronic items. It was determined that the television set was still listed in the inventory of a Wal-Mart store in Kirksville, Missouri, but no longer in their possession. Sheriff Walter states that this would indicate that the item was stolen, because when the bar code is scanned at checkout it is removed from the store inventory.
Sheriff Walter commends the arrest by Corporal Wooten. The sheriff states that the deputy used good investigative technique. His observations concerning the vehicle contents and the statement from Levron, along with the information from Wal-Mart gave the deputy sufficient information to make the case.
Sheriff Walter asks that anyone who has information regarding this case, additional information on Levron, or on any other crimes to contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office at 545-3525, or leave a message on the crime tip line at 1-866-210-4322.
Levron remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond has been set by the court at $3,500.00 cash only.
