Scott County Sheriff Walter reports a Blodgett woman is in custody following an investigation into Doctor Shopping.
BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Blodgett woman is in custody following an investigation into Doctor Shopping.
Diana Breedlove (51) has been charged with four counts of the Class D Felony of Fraudulently Attempting to Obtain a Controlled Substance.
Sheriff Walter states Detective Staff Sergeant Branden Caid and Deputy Richard Logan began to investigate Breedlove after learning that she was obtaining pain medication from multiple doctors.
Sheriff Walter states that Breedlove concealed these facts when she reported to a local doctor’s office near Benton, Missouri. The sheriff advised that Breedlove filled out paperwork stating she was out of her pain medication and that she was not receiving the medication from any other health care provider.
Sheriff Walter said that over a three month period of time it was documented that Breedlove used different pharmacies to obtain 1062 pain pills (approximate street value $4,248), and paid in cash in an attempt to avoid detection.
Sheriff Walter explained that because the State of Missouri does not have a monitoring program in place, investigators located these records by contacting different pharmacies in the area, and asking them to manually research past history, to provide these reports to his office. Sheriff Walter believes it is likely that Breedlove could have additional purchases from the pharmacies that have not been contacted as of this release.
Breedlove remains in custody in the Scott County Jail. Bond has been set by the court at $2,500.00 cash or surety.
