On Wednesday, 11/12/14, at approximately 3:30 P.M., deputies responded to a burglary in progress call on Carpintero Avenue south of Arthurdale Street. Upon arriving at the scene, the deputies stopped a vehicle with a female driver and a male passenger. The male passenger fled from the vehicle into the neighborhood. The driver was immediately arrested, while a containment was established to ensure the passenger would not escape. Deputies were able to aprehend the passenger, after some time, due to tips from residents who saw the suspect fleeing from the vehicle.
I would like to stress the importance of the community being involved in our law enforcement efforts. This is one example of many, where individuals from our community have notified the Sheriff's Department of suspicious activity and prevented a suspect from getting away with a bag full of stolen goods. Thank you to those individuals who picked up the phone and made a difference in their community and city.
