On 11/14/2014 just after 10:40 am, the US Marshals Service Northern District of Indiana assisted Steuben County Sheriff’s detectives with the apprehension of a wanted non-compliant registered sex offender. On 11/13/2014, an arrest warrant was issued by the Steuben Circuit Court charging registered sex offender Lexie D. Martin with one count of failure to register as a sex or violent offender. The arrest warrant followed a Sheriff’s Office investigation into Martin allegedly not reporting a change in required information to the Sheriff’s Office with in the legal time frame. Once the arrest warrant was issued, Sheriff’s detectives reached out to the US Marshals Service Sex Offender Investigations Coordinator Senior Inspector William Boothe for assistance in locating and apprehending Martin. Martin was found at a residence in rural northwestern Steuben County where he was taken into custody without incident. Martin was booked into the Steuben County Jail on one count of failure to register as a sex or violent offender, a level 6 felony. Martin remains held in the Steuben County jail in lieu of a $3,000.00 bond pending an initial court appearance.
