Livermore PD offers Vacation Check Program to Livermore residents.
Will you be going on vacation during the holidays?
When Livermore residents go on vacation, they are invited to take advantage of the Vacation Check Program, which is designed to help protect their home and property.
The Livermore Police Department is able to offer this free service to our community's residents due to our dedicated Citizen Volunteers. Our Citizens on Patrol group (COP) is able to provide our residents with an extended service of extra eyes and ears.
The Vacation Check Program is designed to provide peace of mind to our residents while they are away from home for extended periods of time. Our Citizens on Patrol will attempt to make periodic checks on your residence while it is vacant. They will drive to the residence and make a visual check of the property. Exterior areas that are not accessible, will not be checked. If something appears suspicious, the Volunteers will call for the assistance of a police officer.
The Vacation Check Program provides an overall increase in police presence around your home during your time away. Due to staffing issues and unforeseen circumstances we cannot guarantee the safety of your home or personal property, but the Livermore Police Department will utilize our volunteers to check on your home during your time away. This program is a public service to help safeguard citizen’s property and allow for a rapid response and owner notification in the event of a problem.
To participate in the Vacation Check Program, your residence must be in the City of Livermore. A “Vacation Check” form must be completed and delivered to the Livermore Police Department. The authorization and waiver section of the form must be signed before we will accept the form.
Service does not include feeding animals, watering plants, or picking up mail and newspapers.
Please provide us with at least a one week notice. We do understand that in an emergency that may not always be possible. Residents are required to call the Crime Prevention office if they return home earlier than planned or cancel their vacation.
Information on participating in the Vacation Check Program can be obtained at the lobby of LPD or by contacting the crime Prevention office at 925-371-4978.
