Second Degree Murder Suspect Arrested
On 11/22/2014 at approximately 4:30pm, the West Monroe Police Department responded to 1200 block Hinkle Dr. West Monroe, LA in reference to family members finding a deceased family member inside of the home.
Initial responding Officers located the 81 year old female victim inside of her home where it was apparent that she had sustained life threatening injuries. Emergency Medical Services responded however it was discovered that the victim had been deceased for a period of time, yet to be determined.
West Monroe Police Detectives responded to the scene. During the course of the investigation, a relative of the victim, 33 year old Keland T. Ware, of West Monroe, was quickly developed as a suspect in this incident.
Ware was detained at the scene and transported to the West Monroe Police Department for an interview. During the interview, Ware advised Detectives that he “went crazy and lost his cool”. He later admitted to hitting the victim multiple times with a sharp object.
Ware was subsequently taken into custody and charged with (1) count of Second Degree Murder, he will be transferred to the Ouachita Correctional Center where he will await bond.
The victim’s name in this incident will not be released.
The motive for this crime it still not known at this time.
This investigation is still on-going and additional information will be made available at a later date.
