Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports an Oran woman has been arrested for stealing
BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports an Oran woman has been arrested for stealing.
Kelley R. Prochak (44) of 1406 Main Street, Oran has been charged with the Class D Felony of Stealing.
Sheriff Walter states that on Saturday, November 22nd, at approximately 2:22 p.m., Deputy Zac Harris responded to Boomland on Highway 77 east of Benton. Deputy Harris spoke with employees at the business who identified Prochak, known to one of the employees, as stealing multiple rings (jewelry) from a counter near a register. Deputy Harris watched store surveillance video and observed a recording of the theft.
Deputy Harris then went to Prochak’s residence in Oran. Prochak was not at home and the deputy left word that he wanted to speak with her concerning the incident.
Prochak reported to the Scott County Jail. Prochak denied stealing the rings even after the deputy advised her he had a copy of the store surveillance video that clearly showed her committing the crime. At approximately 6:45 p.m., Deputy Harris arrested Prochak for the theft.
At the time of this press release the rings have not been recovered.
Sheriff Walter commends Deputy Harris for his work on the case. The sheriff asks that anyone who has information regarding this crime, or any other criminal activity to contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office at 545-3525, or leave a message on the crime tip line at 1-866-210-4322.
Prochak remains in custody in the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $1,000.00 cash only.
