Announces an Arrest for:
Filing a False Police Report
The Southern Pines Police Department announces the arrest of Tanya Michelle Issac, 33 years of age of Southern Pines, North Carolina who has been charged with Filing a False Police Report.
On November 19, 2014, the Southern Pines Police Department responded to the Highland Apartments, located at 1650 Richards Street in Southern Pines, North Carolina to investigate what was reported by Tanya Michelle Issac to have been the location of a burglary. Upon arrival, damage was observed to the entry door and screen door leading to an apartment rented by Tanya Michelle Issac. Ms. Tanya Michelle Issac reported to the investigating officer that an unknown individual forced entry into her home stealing a laptop computer and a jar of coins.
An investigation conducted by the Southern Police Department which included crime scene processing, evidence collection, a neighborhood canvas and interviews determined that Ms. Tanya Michelle Issac, by her own admission had fabricated this report of a burglary to keep the Rent-A-Center from repossessing the laptop computer she failed to make continued payments on. Upon the conclusion of this investigation, the laptop that was reported stolen was recovered and is in the custody of the Rent-A-Center.
The Southern Pines Police Department has, and will continue to pursue and seek prosecution of individuals who fabricate and subsequently falsely report incidents of crime.
Tanya Michelle Issac is scheduled for her first court appearance on December 23, 2014 in District Court located in Carthage, NC.
