NEWS MEDIA INFORMATION REPORT

TIME OF CALL: 5:49 P.M.
SUBJECT: Fatal Traffic Crash.
LOCATION: Intersection of N Federal Rd and W Almy Rd, Reynolds Twp, Montcalm County.

INFORMATION: Montcalm County Deputies responded to a two vehicle crash at the above location.

Investigation reveals that a 2009 Pontiac was traveling westbound on W Almy Rd when the driver failed to stop for the stop sign at N Federal Rd. The vehicle entered the intersection, and was struck on the drivers side by a 2001 Ford F150 pickup traveling northbound on Federal Rd.

The driver of the Pontiac, a 68 year old female from Jenison, was found to be unconscious and not responding upon police arrival. She was later extricated from her vehicle by Police, fire, and EMS personnel and then transported to Kelsey Hospital where she was later pronounced dead prior to being air lifted to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids. The passenger, a 17 year old female from Hudsonville, was also in the vehicle at the time of accident. She was conscious and alert on arrival and was transported to Kelsey Hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of the Ford pickup, a 17 year old male from Howard City, was also transported to Kelsey Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.

Airbags deployed in both vehicles and all victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of incident. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Montcalm Deputies were assisted by Montcalm County EMS Units, Life Ambulance of Newaygo, Howard City Fire Dept., Michigan State Police, and Air Care. The accident remains under investigation.
