Lewisville Police remind you to Lock, Take, and Hide.
With the holiday season in full swing, the Lewisville Police Department reminds you to “Lock, Take, and Hide”. Please do not leave your valuables unattended in vehicles, even for a short time. Numerous burglary reports are taken each week regarding cars being broken into at locations such as fitness centers, day-cares, parks, restaurants, retail centers, driveways, streets, and parking lots. Targeted items include purses, wallets, small electronics, and GPS devices. Recent purchases left in a vehicle are also tempting targets for thieves.
A vehicle burglary often takes only seconds to occur and may involve more expense than just the value of the stolen items. It also takes time and money to replace broken windows, and damaged locks. It can take months and create tremendous stress to straighten out the mess if the thieves use stolen credit cards and checks. Always LOCK your car, TAKE your keys, and HIDE your valuables. The Lewisville Police Department strongly suggests that the best way to hide your valuables is to take them with you, as thieves are very aware of common hiding places and also recommends not leaving gifts stored in your car, even in the trunk.
Report suspicious activity. Call 911 for emergencies or if a crime is in progress, or 972-219-3640 for non-emergencies.
