BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Sikeston woman is in custody following a late night vehicle pursuit.

Lana Carnell (50) has been charged with a class D felony of Driving While Intoxicated, a class D felony for Driving on a Revoked License, and a class D felony for Resisting Arrest.

Sheriff Walter stated that around 1:19 am Deputy Carl Rose attempted to stop Carnell after noticing her commit several traffic violations. Walter stated that Carnell failed to stop and accelerated, weaving dangerously in and out of traffic.

Walter stated that Deputy Rose continued to follow Carnell through Sikeston and into New Madrid County where he was eventually able to get her stopped.

Walter stated that after a brief struggle, Carnell was taken into custody without further incident.

Sheriff Walter would like to commend Deputy Rose on the arrest, and thank Sikeston DPS, the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the New Madrid Police Department for assisting with the arrest.


Carnell remains in custody in the Scott County Jail; bond has been set at $ 10,000.00 cash only.
