Ingham County Sheriff Deputy killed in the line of duty following a motor vehicle accident. 
Today, December 7, 2014 at approximately 2:11 am, Ingham County Deputy Grant William Whitaker dob 6-29-1989, was killed during a vehicle chase. Deputy Whitaker was pursuing a vehicle on East Bound on Dexter Trail approximately 1 mile east of M-52, when his vehicle left the road and stuck a tree taking his life. The vehicle being chased has not been located at this time.
The Michigan State Police was called to the scene to conduct the traffic as well as the criminal investigation.
Deputy Whitaker has worked at the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office for approximately 1 ½ years and previously worked at the Stockbridge Police Dept.
