Full Notification

On December 6, 2014 at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department was notified of an armed robbery that had just occurred at Dimpy's Food Mart & Deli, 401 Vassar Road, Town of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

A preliminary investigation has disclosed that a white male, approximately 5'10' to 6' tall, wearing a yellow raincoat with his face covered by a ski mask and armed with a handgun, entered the business and demanded cash from an employee behind the counter. The victim complied and the suspect walked out of the store and fled in an unknown direction.

The employee was not injured and the amount of cash stolen is not being disclosed.

An extensive search of the area was conducted by the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department in conjunction with the New York State Police, who supported the investigation with the deployment of a K9 unit at the scene.
