Potential Power Outages Expected
There is a winter Storm Watch for Western, NH in the higher elevations for Tomorrow through Wednesday. The Washington Emergency Services Group encourages its residents to prepare for possible power outages due to heavy wet snow and gusty winds by stocking up on the following:
· Drinking water—one gallon per person, per day
· Food—non-perishable, easy-to-prepare items
· Coolers and ice to store perishable food
· Flashlights and lanterns (avoid candles during a power outage due to the risk of fire)
· Battery-powered or hand-crank radio (NOAA Weather Radio, if possible)
· Extra batteries
· First aid kit
· Medications (7-day supply) and required medical items
· Multi-purpose tool
· Sanitation and personal hygiene items
· Cell phone with charger (charge phone before storm hits)

If someone in your home is dependent on electric-powered, life-sustaining equipment, remember to include backup power in your evacuation plan
Keep a non-cordless telephone in your home. It is likely to work even when the power is out
