BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Benton area man arrested for the third time this year on domestic assault charges.
Travis A. Huckabay (42) of 78 Sand Burr Loop, Benton has been charged with the Class A Misdemeanor of Third Degree Domestic Assault.
Sheriff Walter states that on Tuesday, December 09, 2014, at approximately 5:58 p.m., Sergeant Charles Pratt responded to the Sand Burr Loop residence in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress.
Sergeant Pratt met with Huckabay and the female victim. The victim stated that she and Huckabay had been in a verbal argument, and that Huckabay had threatened to hit her with a stick. She stated that when Huckabay realized she was on the phone with the sheriff’s office he hid the stick in another room. The victim advised of repeated incidents of domestic violence when the couple resided in Stoddard County, and that she feared Huckabay was going to hit her with the stick.
Huckabay admitted there was a stick in a bedroom; however he denied threatening the victim. Huckabay declined to provide a statement other than only an argument had occurred. He was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail.
Sheriff Walter states that this is the third time his deputies have arrested Huckabay for domestic violence this year. Huckabay was arrested on June 30th and September 9th.
The sheriff states that his deputies will continue to arrest those who commit crimes of domestic violence, and there is never an excuse for this type of crime. The sheriff asks that those who are in an abusive relationship to seek assistance before they become a victim, and those that have violent tendencies to seek counseling before they find themselves incarcerated.

Huckabay remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond has been set by the court at $750.00 cash only.
