Press Release: NPD #1400-4659 Personal Injury Crash Investigation (8th and Mulberry Street, Noblesville) 12.16.14
On December 16, 2014 at approximately 7:00 p.m., police officers and a community service officer from the Noblesville Police Department responded to the area of 8th Street and Mulberry Street (Noblesville) in reference to a report of a stranded motorist complaint. Officers arrived on the scene a short time later and began to investigate.
Upon arriving on the scene, Community Service Officer Terry Jewell parked her vehicle in the south bound lane of 8th Street and activated the emergency lights on her vehicle. She then exited her vehicle and prepared to provide traffic direction at the scene. Officer Jewell attempted to stop a 2007 BMW passenger vehicle that was traveling north bound on 8th Street when she struck by the vehicle. Officer Jewell had a complaint of pain at the scene and was later transported by ground ambulance to Riverview Health (Noblesville). Officer Jewell indicated that she had pain to one of her legs and lower back.
There was little to no damage to the BMW and neither occupant reported any injuries.
The Noblesville Police Department staffs two (2) Community Service Officers (CSO) and they are primarily responsible for enforcing City of Noblesville ordinances associated with animals, parking, and junk/abandoned vehicles. They also assist with stranded motorists, conduct vehicle lock-outs, and remove traffic hazards and debris from roadway, to name a few of their duties. CSOs are civilian employees.
CSO Jewell, 38, of Indianapolis, has been with the Noblesville Police Department since 2014.
