TRAFFIC CRASH IN SPINDALE LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES
On December 23rd at approximately 12:30 am Spindale Police Officers responded the scene of a traffic crash at the intersection of Oakland Rd and Piney Ridge Rd in Spindale.
Upon arrival, Corporal Chad Toney of the Spindale Police Department discovered a 1995 Jeep Cherokee that had crashed into a sign belonging to Adaville Baptist Church. Corporal Toney reported that no one was around the vehicle and that it was still in gear.
During the initial investigation, a witness to the accident reported that he had observed the vehicle speeding and swerving prior to the crash. The witness also reported that he observed people running from the vehicle afterward and approached them to offer assistance.
The witness transported the two passengers from the crash, back to the scene where they were interviewed by Corporal Toney.
Gavin Beaver of Marion North Carolina was charged with
Resist Public Officer, Simple Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Fleeing the Scene of an Accident.
Mr. Beaver was also served 2 outstanding Warrants for Failure to Appear.
Warrants were also secured for Randy Dakota Grant of Nebo North Carolina. Mr Grant is the alleged driver of the vehicle.
Mr. Grant's charges include Felony Possession of Hallucinogenic Mushrooms, Reckless Driving to Endanger, Hit and Run, and Damage to Property.
The investigation is ongoing. Further charges may be forthcoming.
