SUBJECT: Illegal Fund Raising
The Division of Fire Safety was recently made aware of an organization known as the Association for Firefighters and Paramedics that has begun fundraising efforts in New Jersey.
A review of this organization reveals that it is one of America’s worst charities. Additionally, they are not registered with the Charitable Registration Campaign Unit of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs as required by State law.
Unfortunately, this type of organization, who only returns a fraction of what it collects to the entities it purports to help, seriously hurt the legitimate efforts of New Jersey’s fire service related charities.
We make you aware of this so that you can hopefully spread the word through your department/agencies’ social media messaging so that it prevents those who want to assist New Jersey’s fire service from becoming a victim of the Association for Firefighters and Paramedics.
