Auto Theft / Identity Theft Arrest

On 12/30/14 at 0036 hours, a Pleasanton Police officer was checking the parking lot of the Larkspur Landing Hotel when he noticed three men standing outside of a vehicle in the parking lot. A license plate check revealed the vehicle was stolen out of Hayward. Ultimately, Jason Brown was arrested for being in possession of the stolen vehicle. Inside the vehicle were numerous items including the personal identifying information and stolen mail belonging to dozens of victims throughout the Bay Area. Brown also had evidence in his pockets indicating his involvement in stealing people’s identities.

Officers were following up on information that Jason Brown may have been associated with a room inside the hotel. As officers were walking down the hall of the hotel they contacted Heather Maiale and Chase Alves, who were exiting one of the rooms. Both were on probation and had search conditions. They were in possession of narcotics and credit cards not belonging to them. A probation search of the hotel room revealed computers, an embossing machine, narcotics, fake credit cards and stolen property. Brown, Maiale and Alves were all arrested and booked into jail.
