Bulldog Puppies Stolen During Pico Rivera Robbery Recovered #LASD
On December 24, 2014, at approximately 1:58 PM, deputies responded to “Mr. Bulldog” pet store located in the 9400 block of Whittier Boulevard, Pico Rivera, regarding an armed robbery that had just occurred. Preliminary information indicated one male adult had robbed the owner at gun point. The suspect obtained approximately $500.00 in U.S. currency and two 10 week old English Bulldog puppies, valued at $2,500.00 each. The suspect fled the location and drove away in a grey BMW sedan driven by an unknown accomplice.
Pico Rivera Station Detectives were recalled on Christmas Day after deputies received a crime tip from the public regarding the robbery. Detectives worked tirelessly on Christmas Day to identify all suspects involved in the robbery. Their efforts led to the execution of a search warrant on Christmas Night at a residence in West Whittier, which resulted in the arrest of the primary robbery suspect. The primary suspect was identified as a 17 year old Hispanic male subject. The 17 year old Hispanic male subject is a resident of West Whittier.
On December 26, 2014, the detectives’ investigation led to the identification of the driver of the grey BMW and the identification of an additional accomplice. Suspect #2 Jonathan Mora (driver) voluntarily turned himself in to detectives at the Pico Rivera Station. He was subsequently arrested for robbery and booked at the Pico Rivera Station. He is currently being held on $50,000 bail. Suspect #2 Jonathan Mora is an 18 year old Hispanic male and is a resident of the City of Whittier.
On December 26, 2014, Pico Rivera Station Detectives served additional search warrants related to this case at residences in West Whittier, the City of Whittier, and in the City of Pico Rivera. Subject #3 (passenger) was detained at a residence in West Whittier during the execution of said search warrants. Subject #3 is a 15 year old Hispanic female and is a resident of West Whittier.
Both Bulldogs were recovered unharmed during the investigation. One Bulldog puppy was found by a West Whittier resident on Christmas Day after the puppy was found wandering in the street near her residence. The second Bulldog puppy was returned to “Mr. Bulldog” store by an unidentified person on December 26, 2014.
