MARSHALLTOWN SNOW ORDINANCE IN EFFECT
BEGINNING ON MONDAY, JANUARY 5, AT 4:00 P.M.
In anticipation of significant snowfall forecasted for the Marshalltown area this afternoon and evening, the City of Marshalltown will be placing the snow ordinance into effect beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015. The snow ordinance and associated parking restrictions will remain in effect until the snow routes have been sufficiently cleared of snow and ice. This could take up to 24 hours. The Marshalltown area is forecasted to receive up to nine inches of snow this afternoon and into the evening. Should the weather forecast change significantly, requiring an adjustment in the effective time of snow ordinance parking restrictions, the City will send out a revised media release.
Residents are asked to remove their vehicles from the designated emergency snow routes in order to help facilitate snow removal operations. The snow ordinance restrictions will remain in effect until snow removal operations have been completed. The Marshalltown Police Department reminds everyone that vehicles found parked on the emergency snow routes will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.
The Marshalltown Police Department, and Marshalltown Public Works Department, will notify residents through the local media and the Nixle Emergency Notification System when the snow emergency has ended.
Through cooperative efforts from the residents of Marshalltown, and the dedicated employees of the Marshalltown Public Works Department, the streets will be plowed quickly making winter travel within the City safer for everyone.
