.AN EXTREMELY STRONG AREA OF ARCTIC HIGH PRESSURE WILL SURGE INTO THE REGION TODAY...WITH VERY GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS AND BITTERLY COLD AIR TODAY AND TONIGHT.
...WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 AM CST THURSDAY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 AM CST THURSDAY.
* NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS TODAY WILL AVERAGE 15 TO 25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS FROM 30 TO 40 MPH. THIS...COMBINED WITH TEMPERATURES FALLING THROUGH THE TEENS...WILL CAUSE WIND CHILL VALUES TO DROP TO BETWEEN 5 AND 10 DEGREES BELOW ZERO IN MANY
LOCATIONS TODAY AND TONIGHT.
* PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO COLD CONDITIONS OF THIS MAGNITUDE CAN RESULT IN FROSTBITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA. IF POSSIBLE...PLEASE PLAN TO LIMIT ANY OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES. ALSO...PETS SHOULD BE GIVEN ADEQUATE SHELTER FROM THE ELEMENTS. WATER DISHES WILL FREEZE QUICKLY IN THESE CONDITIONS.
Instructions: A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE WIND CHILLS OF 10 BELOW ZERO TO 25 BELOW ZERO. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROSTBITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
