The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory that includes our area. A dangerously cold air mass and wind gusts of 40 mph will result in winds chills of -10 to -12 degrees. Avoid exposure to the elements if at all possible, including for pets, as frostbite and hypothermia can quickly occur. Cover all exposed body surfaces. Have extra clothing/blankets in vehicles in the event of a breakdown. If you have exposed water pipes that are in use, properly cover with heat tape or allow water to trickle in an effort to prevent freeze up. Check on neighbors especially if elderly or medically frail. Avoid alternative heating methods that can cause carbon monoxide exposure.
