Criminal Activity Alert

On the morning of Friday January 9, 2015 a resident from Chestnut Ridge Road called 9-1-1 reporting two suspicious males walking around the home. While on the line with the dispatcher, these males attempted to force entry into the home. Several marked and unmarked patrol units were dispatched to the area. These actors were located while fleeing the scene. Both parties were arrested and transported back to SRPD. Officers later located Buglary Tools, Drugs and a Weapon in the vehicle. These actors were lodged in the Bergen County Jail.

We are aware that several other burglary crews are currently active throughout Bergen County.

Several surrounding towns have recently reported criminal events (Vehicle thefts and Home Burglaries) in the past few days. If you have an alarm system use it regularly, not just for vacations.

The following tips may reduce your chances of becoming a victim;
 Leave interior and exterior lights on to make your home appear occupied.
 Leave a television or radio on inside your home.
 Please remove jewelry and valuables from the bedrooms.
 Remove safes from the master bedroom and their closets.
 Lock all doors and windows. We find many unlocked doors.
 Remove mail and newspapers from your driveway the day they are delivered.
 Secure any ladders on your property.
