Advisory

Reminder: 48 Hour prohibition re vehicles parked on city streets without being moved

With recent snow falls and corresponding plowing operations, this is a good opportunity to remind residents of the City Ordinance that prohibits vehicles from being parked on city streets for periods in excess of 48 hours without being moved. Violators are subject to citations and impounds. Milan officers will be red-tagging vehicles that are in violation of this ordinance. Our intent is to obtain voluntary compliance with the ordinance and avoid having to take formal enforcement actions. Last year we achieved great cooperation from residents on this issue and did not have to take any formal enforcement actions in this regard. Vehicles left parked on the streets for extended periods interfere with plowing operations. Citizens are asked to make every effort to park vehicles in driveways and off the streets if at all possible during snow events to enable our DPW personnel to conduct effective and efficient snow clearing operations.
