Indiana State Troopers Recognized for Service Longevity

Bloomington – Sergeant Brad Ayers recently completed his 25th year with the Indiana State Police. A 1981 graduate of Bloomington High School North, Sergeant Ayers is a native of Monroe County. After attending Georgia Military College, Sergeant Ayers served in the United States Air Force for over seven years. Upon his graduation from the Indiana State Police Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) in 1989, Sergeant Ayers was assigned to the Redkey Post as a Road Trooper. In 1991, Sergeant Ayers transferred to the Bloomington District where he continued his duties, primarily patrolling Monroe County.

Sergeant Ayers was honored as the Monroe County Police Officer of the Year in 1993.

Sergeant Ayers served in the Criminal Investigations Division as a Detective from 2000 – 2007, working major cases in the Bloomington District. Sergeant Ayers was then promoted to his current position where he currently serves as the Squad Sergeant for Monroe and Brown County Troopers. Sergeant Ayers also serves as the TIP Team (Riot Squad) leader for the Bloomington Post.

Sergeant Ayers is married to his wife April; they have one daughter Kirsten, and son-in-law Nick.

Master Trooper Travis Coryea recently completed his 20th year of service to the State of Indiana. Originally from Spencer, M/Trooper Coryea graduated from Owen Valley High School in 1990. M/Trooper Coryea attended Indiana State University before serving with the United States Marine Corp Reserves.

M/Trooper Coryea graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1994 and was originally assigned to the Lafayette Post as a Road Trooper. M/Trooper Coryea then served at the former Terre Haute Post and the Jasper Post before transferring to the Bloomington Post in 1999.

In 2007, M/Trooper Coryea was promoted to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division where he currently serves as a Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer, specializing in School Bus Inspections. M/Trooper Coryea is married with three children.
