CPD Recognized by Onondaga County Traffic Safety Advisory Board

On January 14, 2015 Captain Steve Rotunno, Town Supervisor Mary Ann Coogan, along with several members of the Camillus Town Board represented the Town of Camillus at the 27th annual Onondaga County Traffic Safety Advisory Boards Recognition Ceremony held at Justin’s Grill in East Syracuse.

For the 7th time in fourteen years, the town of Camillus has been selected by Automobile Association of America of Western and Central New York, as a recipient of the highest Community Traffic Safety Award, the Platinum Award. The Platinum Award is given to communities that statistically demonstrate measurable effectiveness in addressing an assortment of traffic safety matters within their community. Over the past fourteen years the Town of Camillus has received 7 Platinum awards, 6 Gold awards, and 1 Silver award.

Camillus Police Officer Matthew Slate was recognized as the recipient of the OCTSAB Speed Awareness Award for his contribution to reducing motor vehicle collisions in the Town of Camillus in the area of speed enforcement.

Camillus Police Officer Larry LaValley was recognized as the recipient of the OCTSAB Impaired Driver Award for his contribution to reducing motor vehicle collisions in the Town of Camillus in the area of Impaired Driving

Camillus Police Officer Joseph Clabaugh was the recipient of the OCTSAB Norma H. Coburn Award. Officer Clabaugh was selected for this award for his steadfast determination, outstanding leadership qualities, and a commitment to traffic safety that is second to none; not only within the Town of Camillus but throughout Onondaga County. Officer Clabaugh has impacted many lives during his career as a police officer, for example presenting educational programs in the community, West Genesee School District or while performing his enforcement patrols. Joe has a special way of delivering his traffic safety message, which is not always through a traffic citation.
