Corona Hires New Officers 
The Corona Police Department welcomes Officers Steven Hungerford and Malessa Cruz. Both officers were sworn in by Chief Michael Abel on January 20, 2015.
Officer Hungerford joined the Corona Police Department as a Corona Police Explorer volunteer in September 2003; he was promoted to Community Service Officer in September 2007, and then promoted to Jailer in July 2009.
Officer Cruz also joined the Corona Police Department as a Corona Police Explorer volunteer in July 2007; she was promoted to Police Cadet in January 2010, and later promoted to Community Service Officer in December 2012.
Officers Hungerford and Cruz graduated from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Academy on January 15, 2015. Both officers will be assigned to the Field Services Division.
