Crime Report for January 1st, 2015 thru January 15th, 2015.
01/09/2015- 3000 Block of Joy Rd- Larceny- The victim reports that his ex girlfriend took items that did not belong to her when she moved out. The case has been closed out after a brief investigation.
01/04/2013- 600 Block of Six Mile Rd- Attempt Garage Break In- The victim reports an unknown subject broke out a garage door window but was unable to gain access into the garage to steal anything. The case is being investigated by the responding officer.

Northfield Twp Police encourages you to:
• Monitor your bills thoroughly
o Identify unfamiliar charges
o Dispute these unauthorized charges immediately
• Be cautious of email, phone calls or text messages requesting additional personal information
o Retailers will not ask for personal data over the phone or through a text message
• Access the retailers protection options (free credit monitoring) through the retailer website, not a link attached to the email
• Debit cards should be tied into an account used only for debit transactions,
this will limit any money at risk of being stolen from an account.
• Michigan citizens are entitled to annual free credit reports from each of the three major credit reporting agencies Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

o Advise the agency your identity was compromised
o Request a Fraud Alert (credit monitoring option)
• Request a credit freeze –which may cost a fee -- but will seal a credit report and provide a PIN to allow only you to “thaw” your credit when needed
o Existing credit cards will still be valid & usable
o Place the Freeze with the 3 mail credit bureaus
