On January 21, 2015, Officer Greg Fillebrown was patrolling in the 1500 block of Cardinal Street. The officer observed the driver of a gold Cadillac sedan make an abrupt turn into a driveway and partially onto the front lawn of residence on Cardinal Street.
The passenger door to the vehicle swung open and Steven Garcia, 43, of Los Banos fled on foot. Officer Fillebrown gave chase and apprehended Garcia in the backyard of a residence in the 1500 block of Cardinal Street. The driver of the vehicle fled in an unknown direction as Officer Fillebrown pursued Garcia.
While running from the officer, Garcia discarded methamphetamine and a loaded .45 caliber Glock 21 firearm. Garcia was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a concealed firearm, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, child endangerment, participation in a criminal street gang, possession of methamphetamine, and other related charges.
