Oakdale, CA – Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District (SCFPD) firefighters were afforded the unique opportunity to utilize the McDonald’s located at 1332 East F Street in Oakdale to practice firefighting techniques not easily replicated in a training environment. Prior to demolition of the building that is scheduled for replacement, fire crews were able to use the facility for three days to train on such things as ventilation, roof safety, hose stream operations, hazards associated with commercial structures and fast food restaurants, on scene reports and scene size ups. They also practiced cutting the roof from the top of the building and from the tip of the ladder on Quint 72, advancing hose lines, nozzle operations, wall breaching and forcible entry.
SCFPD Training Officer Tim Johnson coordinated the training with the local franchise owner and McDonald’s corporate. As always, the District appreciates any opportunity to partner with local businesses to provide valuable training opportunities that enhance fire service delivery and contribute to a safer community.
