Help us reduce crime in our community.
The South Burlington Police Department continues to receive reports of thefts from motor vehicles. Several involve smashing windows in order to gain access to property. This is a problem not just in our community but throughout the country.
Police remind the public that it is best to remove all valuables and lock your vehicle. When thieves find property to steal it encourages this behavior to continue in the area. Simply hiding or covering valuables in a locked car does not stop these crimes, removing valuables does.
As can be expected, studies have shown that removing valuables and locking cars serve to reduce this type of crime in communities. Please help keep our community safe by not providing the opportunity for crime.
