On 1/29/2015 at around 9:00 am, another alleged non-compliant registered sex offender wanted out of Steuben County, Indiana was taken into custody by the US Marshals Service Western District of Michigan. 34 year old Jason Robert Cappella of Coldwater, MI was located and apprehended in the 400 Block of East Chicago St in Coldwater without incident. Cappella was wanted out of Steuben County, Indiana on a 2008 arrest warrant following a Sheriff’s Office investigation, charging Cappella with one count of class D felony failure to register as a sex or violent offender. Sheriff’s detectives contacted US Marshals Service Northern District of Indiana Sex Offender Investigations Coordinator Senior Inspector William Boothe for assistance in the locating and apprehending of Cappella. Senior Inspector Boothe reached out to the US Marshals Office in Michigan where Cappella was thought to be located. Cappella was booked into the Branch County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Indiana. The US Marshals Service was assisted in the apprehension of Cappella by Coldwater Police.
