Martin County (Loogootee): A multi-agency drug investigation in Martin County culminated Wednesday morning after the execution of search and arrest warrants.

Yesterday, officers from the Indiana State Police, Martin and Daviess County Sheriff’s Departments, Drug Enforcement Agency Task Force, United States Marshall’s Office, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms met for an operations briefing at 5:00 in the morning at a location outside of Martin County. At 6:15, three teams simultaneously executed the search and arrest warrants, with all targets being taken into custody without incident before 7:00. The warrants were issued based on a narcotics investigation that began during the summer months of 2014, targeting the sale and distribution of methamphetamine.

“I appreciate the detailed and hard work of all the police officers involved in this investigation,” commented Martin County Prosecutor Michael Steiner. “I also appreciate the long hours that my Chief Deputy Prosecutor Larry Brodeur put in on this case.”

All defendants had initial hearings in front of the Martin County Judge this afternoon.
